This project was a set of menus for Summit Grill, a restaurant serving ‘classic American fare’ with 3 locations across Kansas City. This client needed a menu for brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour, based on their new branding.

They had just undergone a brand evolution led by the Design Director at Fire Engine Design Studio, which gave me a fresh set of design elements to work with – a redesigned logo and elegant color palette, plus a pair of fonts and the topographical pattern, which had been part of the design concept. I brought in an additional element: the marbled pattern seen in the background of the Happy Hour Menu.
The client needed a system of menus that they would be able to alter on a weekly basis without the hassle and cost of a large print run. All the restrictions imposed by the production process made designing more complicated than usual.

I used the same solution here as for the Boru Menu Set – a “shell” was created with the topographical pattern, the logo, and the text call-out (all colored portions) ahead of time in a large print run, but they would remain blank of text or body copy. This would be printed in-house by the client.
