Metro by T-Mobile: Anniversary Gift Box & Insert

Metro by T-Mobile is a brand that sells prepaid wireless plans for no contract phones and devices. The gift box was for a special initiative giving free devices to customers who had been loyal for 20 years. The gift box needed to be branded Metro, and include a double-sided insert with instructions for activating the new device.

Using Metro by T-Mobile’s bold color palette and their signature arrow shape, I created clean and bold packaging for the box, featuring Metro’s brand logo and their 20 year anniversary logo. The arrow shape pattern around the edge conveys some excitement and implies a need for action – to open the box.

Within the box, I used a simple bold color wash of Metro’s brand gold for contrast to the purple outer box, and easy visual contrast for the contents of the box, the device and insert.

The insert was relatively small, but had quite a bit of information to convey. I used some color blocks and bars along with typography to help organize the information – first the celebration of the 20 year anniversary and requisite gift, then highlighting the key features of the gift itself, followed by step-by-step directions for how to activate the device. The back of the insert features a custom-branded QR code that will assist with device setup and activation.
